Mr. Christopher Jones

Christopher Jones has called the Connecticut music education scene his home since his high school years playing cello in CMEA festivals. His undergraduate studies in Music Education were at UConn. While there, Chris was active in a cappella groups, orchestras, ballroom dance team and formed his string trio, Arioso, which played over 250 events in its decade of activity. Chris earned a Master of Music in Conducting from Colorado State University and continued post-masters work in conducting at the Hartt School.


In 2005 he started teaching orchestra at Adams Middle School in Guilford. From 2012-2021 Chris was the assistant conductor for New Haven's Neighborhood Music School Student Concert Orchestra.  He has guest conducted at Eastern and Northern CMEA middle school festivals, Fairfield County String festival and Greenwich String Festivals.  In 2021 Chris took over the Guilford High School orchestras and assisted in teaching small group band lessons at the middle school.  Presently, he is conductor and artistic director for Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestras.


While not making music, Chris balances life with summers sailing, falls hiking and winters skiing with his wife Katie, also a music teacher, and their two kids.
